kidscan - kids can’t wait

This project was all about setting the mood and conveying emotion through lighting, sound, and cinematography. Our challenge was to find effective techniques to illustrate the immense scale of the hardships faced by underprivileged children in New Zealand. It’s always rewarding to work on something that raises awareness for a greater cause.

Like many other charities, KidsCan has been significantly impacted as regular donors face financial struggles. In response, they launched their Winter Appeal campaign to highlight the growing number of children across New Zealand in urgent need of the essential support KidsCan provides.

Below are some style frames and thumbnails I made at the start of the project. I was trying to use value and silhouette to capture the scale and magnitude of the size of the line.

I worked closely with Josh Fourt Wells to help achieve these shots by simulation most of the clothing and hair and giving it back to him to mesh back onto our characters. Below is a bit of a behind the scenes into that process.
